Life carries on...
Our fall has been gorgeous. The warm air and gentle breezes ushered in torential downpour last weekend and Chris had his first induction to hard core sports. He played several soccer games in VERY wet weather. I was so proud! All the guys on his team were aching to prove their stuff by playing in rough conditions so they were strutting too.
We continue to hear from Tim every several days. The weekends are usually hard to talk so we get to talk to him pretty regularly on Mon/Tues/Weds. We can't call him, so we wait for his call...or rather continue with our lives hoping he'll call from day to day. This past week, he phoned and gave us the news that he may be coming home in December! WHAT? His Colonel said that the rear detachment commander for thier Battalion is overwhelmed and needs help processing all the work at Ft Lewis. He asked Tim if he'd like to join in the forces down there en lieu of his current position in Iraq. He called me early one morning to ask me what my thoughts were on this news. Hmmm...let me think about it. Of course you should snatch up that job!!! So he'll head home December some time and will still work 7 days a week and all holidays, just like the guys overseas. But he'll sleep at our house!! Hooray!
So we continue on here at home ready for a call from Tim but living our lives day to day. We're so thankful for Nana and Boppa who watch our active Tommy on some Tuesdays and Fridays so we can focus on school. He is eating up his time with them and has become quite accustom to this new routine. He grabs his lunch box and struts out the door with big brother and sister watching him.
We recently carved pumpkins at a friends' house. They had quite the party! We scooped out the mess on haybales in their backyard and enjoyed an amazing dinner together. The kids dressed up and ran around in packs driving thier dog in the dog run just crazy! Tom made a little buddy and they were in the sandbox till the lights went out.
Life is so full of ups and downs. There will always be hard times and there will always be joy in the midst of it. As I was entertaining a pity party on Sunday...a friend brought over dinner, a neighbor mowed the lawn and Tom pooped in the potty. Tim's coming home, my internet now works, and Ben is sleeping. God is so good to us.
