Living in our rooms
Deployment has been fine. We miss Tim like crazy. We are happy to have family here, and are in the haven of Seattle and all it's conveniences....so we decided to give in a bit. We were so tired of feeling alone at night, that we decided to get the big ass TV. Edit as you read to children. I sold our leather living room couches on CL and together the kids and I went shopping! We decided to reclaim our living room. Who really lives in it anyway? SPIDERS? So we headed to Costco, the haven of big screen TVs and snack foods. After a year of no cable...really...we were enjoying snow on our 10 yr old TV...we bought the mother of plasmas! Oh how Tim would LOVE it! The Movie Watcher of all movie watchers! He was proud...I could hear it in his voice as he listened to us recap our purchase. He was like, "Lady, what are you smoking?!", in a cool very happy way. Needless to say, he's looking fwd to joining us for Christmas and then we'll watch cable together. Ahhh family time!
My eyes were bigger than my car, and we bought this plasma thinking we were modest. When it arrived to the end of the Costco checkout, we thought otherwise. How will we get this monster home!!! Thank goodness for my brother with the big ass car for the big ass TV. (Really, I don't use the word ass this much, but it feels so good for now! Why not keep going!) I called my Dad and he and my brother hauled this thing to my house! After some chit chat, he assembled it and it became a full flegded family night. Hooray! See? Family room already!!!
So the TV has spent several nights here now...disconnected from the world of media and ready to bring it on. We spent an hour of this evening playing soccer at our local field to offset the hour of mindnumbing "Bob the Builder/ Care Bears" that we devoted to the newly installed DVD player. But hey, we got the DVD's from the library. Does that count?!
Well, our little bit of colored entertainment from this monster and a bowl of popcorn was invaluable. What a shot of joy for us all! Of course it is false and oh so temporary...but for now and 30 days into the "free DVR contract"...oh so good!
Well I'm sure that the kids will find the reading that they have to do to offset this joy a little heavy...but we'll deal with that when it comes!
Anyway, it's been pretty fun to rearrange the house as we will truly use it. We miss Daddy, we miss routine of hosting friends and parties, and we miss our life as we knew it before he left. But for now, we've decided to give in to small pleasure...(known as the 50 inch plasma) and chill out together on the rug.
Want to join us? Pizza night is Fridays! Bring a pillow! Our couches are in Bellevue!
